About Kaitlyn
My Story
I started singing as soon as I could make sound. I loved it- belting, expressing myself, and getting lost in the music. But like many kids, I gave it up in middle school because I thought it was βweird.β (Oh, the irony now!)
In high school, I ended up in choir completely by accident- Iβd signed up for a Microsoft Word & Excel class and needed out. The only alternative was choir. I rolled my eyes and made the switch, not realizing my inner self had made the right call. Deep down, I knew I loved singing- but was embarrassed to admit it.
Iβm so grateful for that younger version of me.
Choir gave me my people and my purpose. I fell back in love with singing and eventually went on to study classical voice in college, training to become both a performer and educator. Music truly changed and saved my life.
In college, I had the privilege of learning from some of the best voice teachers and mentors. I performed in operas, studied under directors and coaches from places like Juilliard, and had musical experiences that deeply shaped the teacher, artist, and person I am today.
I became a confident classical singer- but I also felt limited.
As a classical voice major, I was often told that belting was bad for me, that opera was the only βhealthyβ way to sing, and that if I wanted to succeed, I had to stay in the classical lane. But that never sat right with me.
Everything changed when I became certified in Level I of Somatic Voiceworkβ’ The LoVetri Method, a pedagogy rooted in science and designed for Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM).
I found it- my place in the voice world.
Thereβs a whole world of music outside of classical- and teaching CCM opened my heart to pop, musical theatre, rock, folk, and more. I still LOVE classical music, and I teach it - but I also teach belting, riffing, mix, and all the colors of the voice. I use evidence-based vocal pedagogy, rooted in anatomy and science, to help my students build sustainable, versatile, and confident voices - no matter the genre.
